Grand opening of the STEAM classroom sponsored by Sunlight Children's Aid

On October 16 of this year, the grand opening of a newly equipped STEAM classroom space took place at the "Revuona" Primary School in Prienai, Lithuania. School Principal Ilona Balčiukynienė opened the event by introducing the distinguished guests in attendance, including representatives from the U.S.-based Lithuanian organization "Sunlight Children's Aid for Lithuania" ("Saulutė"), Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Jūratė Zailskienė, Mayor of the Prienai District Municipality Alvydas Vaicekauskas, Deputy Mayor Laimutė Jančiukienė, Head of the Education and Sports Department Rimvydas Zailskas, and members of the press.

In her address, the principal expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors, outlined the project's development, and explained how the new space will be utilized—both during regular lessons and in extracurricular activities. The space is intended for conducting research in the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, and physics), performing experiments, engaging in digital and engineering-focused STEAM activities, and implementing various creative and community-oriented projects.

During the celebration, representatives from the "Saulutė" organization expressed their satisfaction with the successful completion of the project and the efficient use of funds, presenting a commemorative plaque to mark this collaboration. Jūratė Zailskienė, Deputy Chair of the Prienai District Municipal Council, shared memories of how she first met the sponsors and how the recommendation to choose this particular school came about; she also expressed her satisfaction with the productive partnership. Alvydas Vaicekauskas, Mayor of the Prienai District Municipality, also extended his gratitude to the sponsors and highlighted the expanding educational opportunities available to children in the district.

The official portion of the event concluded with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, after which guests were invited into the STEAM space itself. There, physics teacher and methodologist Zita Ferevičienė introduced the newly acquired educational tools, reviewed the work already completed, and outlined plans for future activities.

This modern and inspiring space opens up many new possibilities for the school community. The project represents not only an investment in modern equipment but also an invaluable gift that fosters children’s curiosity and creativity, while helping to develop essential life skills and the leadership qualities of the future.

Šių metų spalio 16 dieną Prienų „Revuonos“ pagrindinėje mokykloje vyko iškilmingas naujai įrengtos STEAM erdvės atidarymas. Renginį pradėjusi mokyklos direktorė Ilona Balčiukynienė pristatė gausiai susirinkusius garbius svečius: JAV lietuvių organizacijos „Sunlight Children's Aide for Lithuania“ („Saulutė“) atstovus, Lietuvos Respublikos Seimo pirmininko pavaduotoją Jūratę Zailskienę, Prienų rajono savivaldybės merą Alvydą Vaicekauską, vicemerę Laimutę Jančiukienę, Švietimo ir sporto skyriaus vedėją Rimvydą Zailską bei spaudos atstovus.

Savo kalboje mokyklos direktorė nuoširdžiai padėkojo rėmėjams, aptarė projekto eigą ir pristatė, kaip naujoji erdvė bus įveiklinama tiek pamokų metu, tiek popamokinėje veikloje. Čia numatoma plėtoti gamtos mokslų tyrimus (biologijos, chemijos, fizikos), atlikti eksperimentus, vykdyti skaitmenines bei inžinerines STEAM veiklas ir įgyvendinti įvairius kūrybinius bei bendruomeninius projektus.

Šventės metu organizacijos „Saulutė“ atstovai pasidžiaugė sėkmingu projekto įgyvendinimu, efektyviu lėšų panaudojimu bei įteikė simbolinę lentelę šiam bendradarbiavimui įprasminti. LRS pirmininko pavaduotoja Jūratė Zailskienė pasidalijo prisiminimais apie pažintį su rėmėjais bei rekomendaciją pasirinkti būtent šią mokyklą, pasidžiaugė rezultatyvia partneryste. Prienų rajono savivaldybės meras Alvydas Vaicekauskas taip pat išreiškė padėką rėmėjams bei akcentavo augančias ugdymo galimybes rajono vaikams.

Oficialiąją dalį vainikavo simbolinės juostelės perkirpimas, po kurio svečiai buvo pakviesti į pačią STEAM erdvę. Čia fizikos mokytoja metodininkė Zita Ferevičienė supažindino su įsigytomis mokymo priemonėmis, apžvelgė jau atliktus darbus bei pasidalijo ateities veiklos planais.

Ši šiuolaikiška ir įkvepianti erdvė mokyklos bendruomenei atveria daug naujų galimybių. Šis projektas – tai ne tik investicija į modernią įrangą, bet ir neįkainojama dovana vaikų smalsumui, kūrybiškumui, gyvenimiškų įgūdžių bei ateities lyderystės ugdymui.
