Donor Directed Support
A donor may request their support to be allocated to a specific region within Lithuania for a specific purpose. Some options are:
Sponsor a Child Program
- Since 1994, children in need of sponsorship have been selected by Lithuanian Children’s Fund in Vilnius, Lithuania as well as regional social workers in Lithuania.
- A Sponsor provides a minimum of $400 per year in aid and may optinally provide additional financial support for the child’s birthday, school expenses, holidays, etc.
- Children are sponsored for one year with the opportunity to extend their support the following year.
Donor Requested Support
A donor may request support to be allocated to a specific region within Lithuania for a specific purpose. For example, money was received to dig a fresh water well for a needy family with a severely disabled child in the Radviliškis region of Lithuania. Other donors facilitated the creation of Digital Fabrication Laboratories (FabLab) in rural LT schools.
General Donations
Donations collected without specific allocation are used for the benefit of impoverished children in Lithuania. For example, past donations have made these possible:
- Purchase of motorized wheelchair
- Financial aid to low income students through teacher recommendations
- Financial aid to families suffering catastrophic events
- Financial aid to families fostering children with disabilities
- Support for rural day care centers not supported by other American-Lithuanian organizations.

Supporting education and better living conditions
Special Education Classrooms
Speech impediments, dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity… when addressed early will be only a bump in the road toward success. Many rural schools in Lithuania have trained teachers to work with their special needs students but lack special education materials and equipment. Your donation can help purchase these crucial items.

Rapid Response Program
A donation to our Rapid Response Program provides assistance to a crisis in Lithuania that needs immediate financial support. These are short term fundraising projects that surface quickly and address a pressing need. Sunlight Children's Aid communicates the details of these projects through email, Facebook and our website.
